Why would anyone use skin bleaching / whitening products?

I'm interested to know what motivates black and asian people to get their skin bleached. Why even within black communities is it seen as preferable to be pale?

If white people tan, do we all just want to be the same colour?

Why would anyone use skin bleaching / whitening products?
Ask Jacko he'll know
Reply:I think it's a case of you always want what you haven't got. Straight haired people want to curl it, wavy haired people buy straighteners. Personally I am always jealous of people with colour (I'm so white I'm practically blue!) because they look great in short skirts and pale legs just look terrible.
Reply:It would be nice if we were all the same coffee colour but we're not and people should learn to be happy with the colour nature has determined they are to be.
Reply:Have a look at this

and check out the

1940s experiment conducted by Dr. Kenneth Clark that studied the psychological effects of segregation on black children.

Its truly shocking.
Reply:YOU CAN USE THEM FOR BLEMISHES NOT TO ALTER THE COMPLEXION
Reply:those people are not contented.
Reply:A societally imposed belief of what beauty is and not being comfortable in one's own skin (literally %26amp; figuratively).

I am a short, overweight hispanic and it took years to get over my mad envy of my two half sisters, one of which is short %26amp; overweight like me, but they are both blonde %26amp; blue eyed.
