Well some women (can be of any culture, but mostly women of Asian cultures) prefer fair skin because they think its nice, clean, and bright. But for Asian cultures, fair skin equals higher class. (Dark skin means they have to work outdoors like on farms or whatever, hard labor.) Personally, I have fair-medium toned skin and i like it like that. I don't want a dark, tanned face. I'm not into the whole tanning fad.
BTW Asian women don't want white skin to be like White American girls. It goes back to history of Geishas and the whole social status of Asian cultures.
Why do some women use skin bleaching? Why do they wish to lighten their skin?
Maybe the same reason you like to bleach your hair.

Reply:some women do it to tone and even their skin tone. A lot of people with dark skin get white spots on their faces in the sun or are just born with an uneven skin tone, and wish to lighten some parts of their skin to get their whole face an even shade..
Reply:For the same reason women in this country go to the tanning salon. People are never happy with what they have and want to to try something different. I don't know why women who lighten their skin get so much flack and people say that they want to look white. But when white people go to tan nobody says they're trying to look ethnic. They're just trying out a new look and they just like the way pale or tan skin looks on them.

Reply:Its probably a cultural thing. It depends on the ethnicity of the woman, and who the woman is looking to appeal to. In Asia, women work to be fair and light skinned like American girls work to get tanned. The grass is allways greener on the other side, the dark ones want to be light, the light ones want to be dark. There is a healthy happy median.
Reply:Not sure why. Everyone should be glad of the skin color that God gave them, whether they have white, brown, yellow or whatever skin color they may have.
Reply:In some cultures having pale skin is beautiful. Like in some asian cultures you are higher class if you have pale skin so some people bleach their skin to look paler to make it look like they are wealthy.
Reply:coz u know when u use skin bleachin it not that to make it lighten but to make it kind of soft don't know y when u use bleach ur skin would be so soft after that, and besides some ppl llike to be white ,like the area that i live most of guys love fair gurls , alotta gurls do it in around my area coz their man like fair gurls
Reply:In some cultures lighter skin is seen as more desirable....or beuatiful.
Also, us women of color have to deal with hyperpigmentation (it's when some parts of the skin tend to be darker than others) so in order to get out skin tone even we use skin lightening soaps, gels, creams and lotions.
White women also use skin lightening products to even out their skin tone and make it look brighter and younger.
Reply:Some woman do this because they have acne dark spots on face that they want to lighten. Some do it to lighten the hair on their face. Some chicks think lite skin gives them a better complextion.

Reply:some people use it to even out their skin tone some to make their skin a little lighter to their taste all about self image like some people tan some people lighten it really depends on the person there is no one reason or answer to that everyone has their own agenda...........like im going to the dermatologist soon so i can ask what products to use to lighten my skin because overall my skin tone is uneven not that i dont like my skin color i just want one skin color because its very hard to find foundation to match my skin

Japanese have the lowest melin then any asians, thus other asians always been influenced to geisha skin.
ReplyDeleteFirst why asians like their natural white skin. just like our culture is to tan to look good, there culture is not to tan. The reason is because back in the olden days, those who were tan were the farmers or ppl who would work outside as sellers, whereas rich ppl would stay indoors and have there natural skin. Our culture is, those who can afford for relaxation tan skin makes u look outgoing and looks like you've went on a vacation.
...I hope you do not think ppl use actual bleach to bleach there skin. Technology and science these days.. especially in Asia, they obviously dont use chemicals... there is so many PLANTS and fruits in combination to naturally bleach skin. Asians will do that to get rid of any freckles, spots, age spots, discoloration, a tan they recently have, any skin pigmentation they got or use it for prevention. Though a lot of my friends are naturally super light, i find more of the South East Asians, tend to be more on the olive yellowish side compared to their east asian counterparts thus they want skin like them since they're skin is lovely. I've picked up alot of tips from asian women, since i have freckles, and im a tad pink more, i have broken capillaries and thin skin and my skin is very see through and u can see my dark circles, thats just how my skin is. But i will accept my skin and not wonder why my skin isn't thick like asians.
