Bleaching skin?

As a fellow black woman I want someone to answer me truthfully and tell me why black women do this? Light skin and dark knuckles look soooo terrible and all the other patchiness that goes with it. Why do you do it?

Bleaching skin?
its not cos they wanna be white i dont think, cos people who tan dont want to be black. its just like going to lie under a sun bed. People want to do dumb stuff to themselves.
Reply:As a white male, I'd like to know why they do it too.

I think black women look gorgeous just the way nature intended !
Reply:we lie in the sun and tan ourselves, while blacks bleach themselves! weird eh!

Ya sai..... it is a massive craze, particularly in Africa.
Reply:As a white person, I have no idea why they do that. I realize that everyone finds flaws with themselves but that is too extreme
Reply:DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! even of you didn't want to, never make it go through your mind! ;-D i would really love to have black skin, it looks so smooth and beautiful...i want it....
Reply:Umm...your question is kinda confusing...

I'm a fair skinned black woman...and I'm the same color all over...lol

I know some people with dark knees or elbows and have used a skin lightening cream just to fade the dark areas. Poeple want to be the same tone all over their body.

As for dark skinned women trying to bleach their whole body, i think its ridiculous. Lighter skin does not equal beauty (in my opinion). We come in all different shades and tones. Thats what makes us unique. Besides...I've seen PLENTY of ugly fair skinned people, lol.
Reply:Nobodys happy woth what they've got, i find that weird. White people want dark skin and black people want lighter skin. Why can't they just be happy with their selves and not be fake from head to toe!
Reply:I never heard this before, I thought only white people wanted to change their skin colour. I think black people should stay the way they are. Trying to become lighter is as dangerous as us white trying to get darker in the tanning salons. Clearly no one is happy with their natural tan. That's sad, but that's the way it is.
