I wanted to test try one but a close friend said they can dama ge skin (Michael Jackson[lol]). Is this really true?
Do skin bleaching creams have any negative long-term affects?
no
no negative effect if u use mild bleach
Reply:well bleaching you skin is definatly not safe or healthy or natural!!! it is just asking for problems, and it would proably not be permanate unless it gets so far down like a tattoo, other wise the bleaches skin would just eventualy come off, but none the less its not safe and its very harmfull.
Reply:I know that it can cause chemical burns if it's too strong.
Changing your skin color through bleaching or tanning is (or at least can be) a dangerous process.
Reply:Michael Jackson got his done by surgery, but yes, most creams do have lasting effects. Most have mercury in them, which can sink into the skin and actually lower your IQ by about 4 points for every milligram of the crap. It's all in the Wikipedia article. Feel free to check it yourself. I probably got the number wrong. I think it's higher...
Reply:NO, NO, and again NO!!! You will NOT look like Michael Jackson by using a bleaching cream. I am using bleaching cream now with a face cleansing bar (Cetaphil) and I do not look like a ghost!!!!! You will be just fine and I have seen great results!!!
P.S.
This is ONLY if you are speaking about an over-the-counter fading cream used for skin discolorations, such as Ambi.
Reply:negative long term effects happen to people ONLY if they use unsafe skin lighteners that are with hydroquinone, mercury and steroids because these ingredients can cause skin cancer, poison the bloodstream, etc.. safe formulas contain kojic acid, licorice, papain, which are natural plant extracts...
plus, you need to use high spf 50 or better sunscreen to protect your fresh new lightened skin from sun damage and further darkening..
MJ's case maybe started from pigmentation problems but escalated to vanity... his is a different case.. not all who want a lightened skin wants to be like mj.. skin lightening AND skin tanning have the SAME objectives - better self esteem or to correct uneven skin tone.. much like how you take care of your skin, hair, weight, etc. to look and feel better.. absolutely, there's nothing wrong with that.. the only difference lies in one's cultural identity and tradition.. so let's respect each other's wants and needs..
if you choose safe skin lighteners, sunscreen, and take 500mg vit. C daily, you can't go wrong.. i've done it.. here's a good source for safe and potent skin lightening products -
